Hybrid / Cardiff

Ofcom is seeking to recruit three non-executive members to join the Advisory Committee for Wales.

Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, postal services, telecommunications and wireless communications services. The organisation has recently taken on regulation of online safety to make online services safer for the people who use them.

The Advisory Committee for Wales provides advice to Ofcom colleagues about the interests and opinions of people living in Wales and its diverse communities across its regulatory responsibilities. The Committee strives to ensure that Ofcom’s work is informed by the widest possible understanding of the experience of consumers and citizens in Wales capturing the distinctive needs of people living across different parts of the country.

Committee Members are drawn from a range of backgrounds. Ofcom wants to attract a wide variety of applicants to provide a good balance of skills and relevant sector experience, so it has a diversity of perspective and background on the Committee. In addition, it wants the Committee’s membership to reflect the range of regions and communities in Wales to give as wide a geographical and social view as possible.

On this occasion, Ofcom would be interested to receive applications from people with experience working in one or more of the following sectors: Safety Online, AI & Data, Technology, Third Sector, Competition, Creator Economy and/or Video On-Demand and Video Sharing Platforms.

You are welcome to apply in English or Welsh.

If you’re eager to contribute to the Committee, please contact Goodson Thomas on 029 2167 4422 or info@goodsonthomas.com for an informal discussion and a copy of the Candidate Brief.

Goodson Thomas wants to ensure that all applicants are treated equally whatever their race, colour or ethnic origin. To do this we need to know about the ethnic origin of people who apply to join us. Which group do you most identify with?

Do you consider yourself to have a disability? A disabled person is defined under the Equality Act 2010 as someone with a 'physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on that person's ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities'.
