We are seeking to appoint a Director of Finance and Business Services to lead our Finance, Governance, Human Resources and ICT functions. We are seeking a values-led individual to who can take the lead on a broad portfolio of initiatives; someone who can enhance the performance of our support functions to enable outstanding service delivery while representing the integrity of their Directorate with all stakeholders.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, and a member of the 4-strong Senior Management Team, you will direct and lead the Finance, Governance, Human Resources and ICT functions, overseeing a team of approximately 20 people.
You will be directly responsible for the Head of Finance and Investments and the Head of Corporate Performance and lead the ongoing implementation and evolution of our investment strategy. Through this work, your role will be to ensure effective business delivery, excellent return on investment and the development of all commercial opportunities available to Sport Wales, particularly through its National Centres.
You will play an important role in supporting the sport sector, by improving resilience, embracing digital and capitalising on diverse income opportunities to advance the organisations resources to better achieve its objectives.
We are looking for candidates who have the following:
Qualifications: A qualified accountant, preferably with experience in government finances, you will ideally hold a professional qualification in one other corporate specialism.
Experience & Knowledge: You will have established a credible track in grant and funding management and have experience of managing a broad remit and complex projects, including successful organisation-wide change programmes.
Abilities and Personal Qualities: You will be adept at building valuable professional relationships quickly; a strong influencer and keen negotiator, who can think creatively and innovatively to drive continuous improvement.
