Responsible to the General Director, the purpose of the role is to oversee the WNO operational activities of the organisation and focus on the operationalisation of the strategy. To be second in command, reporting to the General Director taking primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities including the
development of financial and operational strategies.
The Executive Director is responsible for managing WNO's finance operation. The post-holder acts as deputy to the General Director, line manages the Senior Leadership Team and attends all Board meetings as Company Secretary.
Role Specification
- To lead and have overall responsibility for WNO's financial operation, providing strategic, operational and financial advice and expertise to the Leadership Team and Board.
- Lead on the development and planning of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
- To manage the contract with Wales Millennium Centre for the current outsourcing of IT and ensure best value.
- To ensure appropriate professional services are in place, including insurance, audit, and legal services.
- Lead and develop an effective and motivated team, ensuring that the team consistently meets the desired level of performance. Develop new capabilities and skills within the function to deliver against the vision and future environment.
Person Specification
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified member of an accountancy body and qualified accountant to at least CIMA, ACCA, ACA level or holder of an equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience at director level.
- A strategic thinker with experience of successfully influencing and directing strategic planning and driving operational plans.
- Significant experience in direct financial management and control of a minimum £5m turnover operation.
- Significant experience of budget preparation, setting and monitoring and financial modelling and forecasting.
- Welsh language speaker/writer*
- Understanding of GDPR legislation*
